Designed as a direct replacement for the original flexible brake hoses on the coil-sprung 127 — the long-wheelbase crew cab that became the Defender 130 in 1990 — this kit delivers improved braking feel, long-term reliability and exceptional corrosion resistance.
Unlike many alternatives that use zinc-plated components, Pioneer 4x4 brake line kits are built using high-quality stainless steel braided hose and stainless steel fittings throughout, for maximum durability in harsh road, towing, expedition and off-road environments. Every kit uses a PTFE inner liner with a protective coloured PVC outer coating for excellent resistance against moisture, mud, salt, abrasion and extreme temperatures.
Why braided lines?
A rubber brake hose swells slightly every time you press the pedal, and that expansion soaks up pressure that should reach the caliper — the cause of a soft, vague pedal. A stainless steel braided line with a PTFE core barely expands at all, so more of your pressure goes straight to the brakes. The result is a firmer, sharper, more consistent pedal — and the stainless braid and fittings shrug off the mud, salt and abrasion that rot ordinary hoses. On a heavily loaded 127 that consistency matters more than most.

127, not Defender 130
This kit suits the 127 — built from 1985 until the Defender name arrived in 1990, when it was renamed the 130 despite the wheelbase staying the same. It is non-ABS and shares its brake hoses with the One Ten. If your vehicle is a Defender 130 (1990 on), or has been converted to rear discs or ABS, you need one of our Defender kits. If you're not sure, get in touch with your VIN before ordering.
